The information the Bible
gives about the nation Israel, spread through the pages of all 66 books, from
Genesis to Revelation, represents irrefutable evidence as to the accuracy and
divine origin of the Good Book.
The details are infinitely
intricate and give an exhaustive layout from the nation's origins to its future
Kingdom glory with Jesus Christ reigning as King. As the adage goes in Bible
study, "Genesis is the book of origination. Revelation is the book of consummation."
I'm sure everybody has now
heard about the international condemnation Iran's new president generated after
he remarked in a recent speech that Israel was a "disgraceful blot"
that should be "wiped off the map."
So take a look at this from
Psalms 83:4: "They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being
a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance."
Now look at Jeremiah 33:23-24: "Moreover the word of the LORD came to
Jeremiah, saying, Considerest thou not what this people have spoken, saying,
The two families which the LORD hath chosen, he hath even cast them off? thus
they have despised my people, that they should be no more a nation before them.
Both these passages are
references to the coming tribulation period that follows the Rapture (when all
Believers suddenly exit earth and are swept up into heaven) and involves the
rise of the Anti-Christ government intent on wiping out Israel.
"Psalm 83 is a prayer
from a saint during this tribulation period who's praying for God to come and
deliver him," explains my pastor, Richard Jordan, in a sermon I have on
tape. "He's saying, 'Come, help us Lord!'
The reference to "thy
hidden ones" in the Psalm connects up with Revelation 12 and refers to the
time when the faithful remnant in Israel must flee into the wilderness and be
hidden from their enemies. Isaiah 26 talks about how they hide.
Verse 5 and 6 of Psalms 83
continues with, "For they have consulted together with one consent: they
are confederate against thee:
"The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the
Hagarenes;"
What's being talked about
here are the families from which the Arab nations come from. They are the
descendants of Ishmael and of Lot through his daughters.
"It's what we call the
Arab nations," explains Jordan. "And by the way, those nations that
are confederated together there, there are 10 of them listed in verses 6-9,
just like there are 10 nations that gather together under the authority to form
the kingdom of the Anti-Christ."
In Psalms 83:9, the saint
prays, "Do unto them as unto the Midianites" and he begins to go back
and show how the Old Testament is pre-written history of the "last
days."
He prays in verse 17-18,
"Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to
shame, and perish: That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH,
art the most high over all the earth."
What's being discussed is the
establishment of the Kingdom Jesus Christ talks about in His earthly ministry
(Matthew 25, etc.).
In the coming tribulation
period, Israel will be found poor, naked, hungry, jailed and persecuted as the
people try to wipe them off the face of the earth.
During this time, even the
official foreign policy of the U.S. government, inside both houses of Congress,
the State Department and in the White House, will be in fitting with Jeremiah
33:23-24.
We'll be just like all the
rest of the nations in the earth!
